Amsterdam chose Comsof Heat for its district heating network research. It wants to make strategic decisions on questions such as: which neighborhoods are suited for district heating and how to connect these neighborhoods efficiently.

The Netherlands have ambitious plans to decarbonise their economy and stop their dependence on natural gas. In this

turnaround, the country’s municipalities are playing a vital role. The Dutch capital, Amsterdam, is investigating the feasibility of the expansion of the district heating networks within the city limits.

Amsterdam wants to make strategic decisions on several questions. Which neighborhoods are suited for district heating? And how to connect these neighborhoods efficiently?

Above all, low carbon district heating needs to be economically viable and this requires the capacity to develop detailed analysis of many scenarios.

Amsterdam selects Comsof Heat

Amsterdam selected Comsof Heat software to assist the city’s engineers with these complex research questions, calculations and network comparisons. The power to develop scenarios for debate across different teams partially rests in the numeric and visual features of the software.

Next to Nijmegen and Rotterdam, Amsterdam is the third Dutch city to choose Comsof Heat. This software package to facilitate well-informed decision-making, based on detailed quantitative analysis and clear network designs.
