This report (2017) analyses the ways to decarbonise, optimise and diversify district energy systems in the Chinese context. It is intended to provide policy makers and district energy stakeholders with the information they need to carry out improvements in China’s district heating system. If implemented correctly, the transition towards more efficient, sustainable district energy in China could simultaneously support economic growth, reduce total energy consumption, cut emissions and improve environmental conditions.
