The 4th Global District Energy Climate Awards to Be Revealed on 27 April

Launched in 2009 by Euroheat & Power together with the International Energy Agency and the International District Energy Association, the Global District Energy Climate Awards aim to generate broader awareness, greater adoption and strengthen the importance of District Energy and the movement towards clean, sustainable energy solutions.

The 2015 European Ceremony will be held on 27 April during the Euroheat & Power Congress in Tallinn, Estonia. The Awards Ceremony will be opened by Robin Wiltshire, Chairman of the Evaluation Panel and Chair of the International Energy Agency’s District Heating research programme. The moderator of the event will be Christian Oliver, EU correspondent for the Financial Times.

Applicants for the Awards include owners, operators, communities and organisations served by a District Energy system. The finalists have been selected from those who best articulate their ambition and aspirations for District Energy performance improvements. Four awards will be announced on 27 April according to the following categories:

• New scheme – awarding the vision of a new, highly energy-efficient District Energy system;
• Modernisation – recognising the District Energy system that had the most positive impact in terms of effectiveness and efficiency after implementing technical, managerial, or operational modernisation aspects;
• Expansion – awarding the District Energy system that expanded to a new area or sector with excellence, delivering significant benefits to stakeholders;
• Special award – recognising significant innovation in the District Energy sector.

The Global District Energy Climate Awards Ceremony will take place at the Original Sokos Hotel Viru (Viru Väljak 4, EE-10111 Tallinn) starting at 16:00 local time. Further information about the event can be found on www.districtenergyaward.org.
