The Hillerød heat plant uses the OE3i Mentor Planner to plan and optimize the production of heat and electricity.

Today Danfoss announced its acquisition of privately-held OE3i ApS, a leading developer and provider of innovative software and services for planning and optimizing energy.

The acquisition includes a suite of proven software solutions for plant management, load forecasting, and temperature optimization which have been designed to help District Heating Utilities (DHUs) and Combined Heat and Power plants (CHP) optimize heat and power production. With this technology acquisition Danfoss will accelerate and increase its already strong market position in the District Energy industry and support the digital journey in District Energy.

“Acquiring new innovative technologies is an important part of our investments in developing our business where we see growth potential, and I am excited about the team of experts from OE3i joining Danfoss to further strengthen our end-to-end offering to the DHUs. In January this year, OE3i and Danfoss first entered a strategic cooperation to accelerate digitalization within the district energy sector and today’s announcement is a proof to the momentum and positive feedback from markets and customers on the combined business model and value proposition,” said Lars Tveen, President Danfoss Heating Segment.

“Network optimization is a strategic priority and sits atop the digital agenda for all our customers in the energy industry in Denmark and additional markets in Europe. By combining Danfoss’ deep application and product know-how within district energy with our leading and innovative software solution for planning and optimizing energy, we contribute to the DHUs to achieve a more profitable operation schedule and reduce energy loss. Together, we will use our combined strengths to provide key benefits to this customer segment,” said Nicolai Hagen Johansen, Managing Director OE3i.

Upon completion of the acquisition, the company becomes part of the Danfoss District Energy Division.

The parties have not disclosed the purchase price or other conditions of the acquisition yet.
