STRATEGO: The End is Only the Beginning

STRATEGO (www.stratego-project.eu) is a European co-funded project developed in the framework of the Intelligent Energy Programme and coordinated by Euroheat & Power. It started in April 2014 with the duration of 32 months and the aim of supporting national and local authorities in the implementation of more efficient heating and cooling strategies.

Ideas, lessons and data developed over the course of the project can be found throughout the first ever EU Heating and Cooling Strategy. Just as importantly, STRATEGO has also helped point the way towards sustainable solutions at local level in cities and communities all over the European Union.

STRATEGO has produced a lot of useful outputs, key of them being:

• The first ever Pan-European Thermal Atlas
• 6 country-specific thermal atlases with a detailed data on available waste heat resources and renewable energy sources
• A set of reports and recommendations to make the heating and cooling sector more sustainable at EU and national level
• 43 sustainable heating and cooling projects identified at city level, each including technical details and business models
• Guidelines for the international coaching process
• Advice on building cooperation between local, regional and national authorities

STRATEGO Final Publishable Report (download here) provides more information and an easy-to-read explanation of the STRATEGO achievements over the last three years. “STRATEGO is only the beginning of a wider movement.
