Thermal Atlas Flanders Ready for Use

In collaboration with distribution system operators Eandis and Infrax, VITO created a list of potentially interesting locations for district heating, commissioned by the Flemish Energy Agency. This has led to “Thermal Atlas Flanders”, boosting energy efficiency and green heat.

“In order to meet the EU climate goals in 2020, Flanders wants to realise one third of the renewable energy goal with green heat. Therefore, I am pleased to introduce the heat atlas Flanders today. It is a useful tool that encourages local policy makers and initiators to reduce energy waste by examining the potentially interesting areas for district heating”, said Minister of Energy Bart Tommelein.
